Once depicted on a medieval map as the center of globe, Jerusalem has been a center of
history in the western world over the past three thousand years. It's unique geography and
geopolitical location have destined the city to its place in history. Two of the three major western
religions, Judism and Christianity, were born in Jerusalem which serves as their universal
religious center. For the third, Islam, Jerusalem is as holy as it is to the two former in its religious
signifcance. As far as religion directed the course of history in much of the world, Jerusalem has
been central to much of the story.
