Information Technology in Argentina

It is estimated that 30,000 modem units were sold in 1994. Sales for modem units in 1995 and 1996 were estimated at 45,000 . The number of installed modems-in-use was estimated at 50,000 in December of 1994. The dial-up type modems represent more than 95%.
In October of 1994, it was estimated that 1,300 PCs were connected to Internet in Argentina. A rapid growth in local users can be projected given the constant advertising in the media on the Information Superhighway.

It appears from the proliferation of the .ar domains and large growth of Argentine ISPs that Argentina is quickly becomming a "wired country."
